Resumo: The agricultural production of the social segments contemplated in this chapter ? family farmers, indigenous peoples and traditional populations ? has characteristics, meanings and challenges distinct from the other productive segments of the Brazilian agricultural sector. They demand adequate diagnoses and reflections on their meaning in different economic, social, political, cultural and environmental realities, in order to be able to approach strategies to increase production.
