Resumo: The social importance of public policies for the care of the elderly aims to protect this vulnerable group. The aging of the population has increased the need to implemente new public policies, article 230 of the Federal Constitution calls upon Society, families and the State to protect and care for elderly. The research intends toanswuer the following question: What are the needs that lead the elderly to need public social assistance police? To answer this question, the general objective is to analyze the needs of the elderely ; verify the legal aspects of State protection, analyze public policies for social assistence to the elderly. The metodology used in the research was the bibliographic analysis of authors who deal with the subject and the legislation related to the matter.

O envelhecimento da população fez aumentar a necessidade de implantação de novas políticas públicas, o artigo 230 da Constituição Federal chama responsabilidade a sociedade, as famílias para junto ao Estado protegerem e cuidarem dos idoso. A pesquisa pretende responder a seguinte pergunta: Quais as necessidades que levam ao idoso a necessitarem de políticas públicas de assistência social? Para responder a essa pergunta tem-se o objetivo geral que é analisar as necessidades dos idosos de uma proteção de políticas públicas de assistência social. Os objetivos específicos da pesquisa auxiliam a alcançar o objetivo geral, sendo eles: Analisar os aspectos de vulnerabilidade dos idosos; verificar os aspectos legais de proteção do Estado, analisar as políticas públicas de assistência social aos idosos.
