“Five-star” job? Organization and work conditions of delivery app workers

Resumo: This research aims to investigate the main causes of physical and mental illness in application delivery people. This is qualitative research, with semi-structured interviews with 11 food deliverers using apps. The interview script was based on the Work Context Assessment Scale (WCAS) and the Human Cost at Work Scale (HCWS). The technique of content analysis was adopted. The main results show that the work context is marked by demand for results, certain physical effort, accentuated use of memory and attention, especially due to traffic. The affective cost of the activity is high, often marked by embarrassment, humiliation, discrimination, and some insults by the establishments. The study stands out for fostering the understanding of the work context that gives rise to the main causes of physical and mental illness of application delivery people, providing subsidies for the psychodynamics of work, precisely by the construction and analysis of demand and in the service given the increase in this group of workers. There is a need to develop policies so that delivery people do not rely solely on the terms dictated by the application policies to provide security in case of work accidents. In addition to ensuring respect for the work performed, in which the worker undergoes constant constraints.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, com entrevistas semiestruturadas com 11 entregadores por aplicativos. O roteiro de entrevistas semiestruturadas baseou-se na Escala de Avaliação do Contexto de Trabalho (EACT) e na Escala de Custo Humano no Trabalho (ECHT). Adotou-se a técnica da análise de conteúdo.  Os principais resultados apontam que o contexto de trabalho é marcado por cobrança por resultados, certo esforço físico, uso acentuado da memória e da atenção, especialmente por conta do trânsito. O custo afetivo da atividade é alto, marcado, muitas vezes, por constrangimentos, humilhações, discriminação e alguns xingamentos por parte dos estabelecimentos. O estudo se destaca por fomentar a compreensão do contexto de trabalho que dão origem às principais causas de adoecimento físico e mental dos entregadores por aplicativos, fornecendo subsídios para a psicodinâmica do trabalho, justamente pela construção e análise da demanda e no atendimento diante do aumento desse grupo de trabalhadores. Constata-se a necessidade de desenvolvimento de políticas para que os entregadores não dependam somente dos termos ditados pelas políticas dos aplicativos para dar uma segurança em caso de acidentes de trabalho.
