Resumo: The competitiveness of companies in the electricity sector depends on the management of their extended supply chain, but there is little empirical research on the methodology to achieve it. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the relationship between the implementation of an appropriate program for the development of suppliers in the business group Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. (ISA), and the improvement of its supply chain management. The conceptual and operational elements of the program were determined experimentally from a hypothetical model adopted, which was qualitatively adjusted to the needs of the stakeholders through pilot projects for the implementation of processes following the evolutionary trend of international management standards. As a representative finding, it was found that the program implemented in ISA, conditioned to develop the capacities and competencies of its suppliers in the electric sector, presents a positive relationship with the improvement of the management of its extended supply chain. One of the main contributions of this study is that the results can facilitate the implementation of new sector programs appropriate for developing specific capabilities and competencies of critical suppliers, the improvement of the management of other extended supply chains, and sourcing decisions in supplier management.

Por tanto, el objetivo es analizar la relación entre la implementación de un adecuado programa de desarrollo de proveedores en el grupo empresarial Interconexión Eléctrica SA (ISA), y la mejora de la gestión de su cadena de suministro. Los elementos conceptuales y operativos del programa se determinaron experimentalmente a partir de un modelo hipotético adoptado, el cual fue ajustado cualitativamente a las necesidades de los actores a través de proyectos piloto para la implementación de procesos siguiendo la tendencia evolutiva de los estándares internacionales de gestión. Como hallazgo representativo, se encuentra que el programa implementado en ISA, condicionado a desarrollar las capacidades y competencias de sus proveedores en el sector eléctrico, presenta una relación positiva con la mejora de la gestión de su cadena de suministro extendida. Una de las principales contribuciones de este estudio, es que los resultados pueden facilitar la implementación de nuevos programas sectoriales adecuados para el desarrollo de capacidades y competencias específicas de los proveedores críticos, la mejora de la gestión de otras cadenas de suministro extendidas y las decisiones de aprovisionamiento. en la gestión de proveedores.A competitividade das empresas do setor elétrico depende da gestão de sua cadeia de suprimentos estendida, mas há poucas pesquisas empíricas sobre a metodologia para alcançá-la. Portanto, o objetivo é analisar a relação entre a implementação de um programa adequado de desenvolvimento de fornecedores no grupo empresarial Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. (ISA) e o aprimoramento da gestão de sua cadeia de suprimentos. Os elementos conceptuais e operacionais do programa foram determinados experimentalmente com base num modelo hipotético adotado, o qual foi ajustado qualitativamente às necessidades dos stakeholders através de projetos-piloto para a implementação de processos seguindo a tendência evolutiva dos padrões internacionais de gestão. Como constatação representativa, constatou-se que o programa implementado na ISA, condicionado ao desenvolvimento das capacidades e competências dos seus fornecedores do setor elétrico, apresenta uma relação positiva com a melhoria da gestão da sua cadeia alargada de abastecimento.
