Morpho-physiological bases for productivity differences between paddy rice production regions in Santa Catarina

Resumo: | This work was carried out aiming to identity morphological and physiological bases that help to explain grain yielddifferences between two paddy rice production regions in Santa Catarina State (SC). Two field experiments were set, in thecities of Itajaí and Pouso Redondo, SC, using the water-seed production system. Five genotypes were assessed at each place.Main stem leaf area, disease incidence, flag leaf chlorophyll content, grain yield and its components were measured. The fivegenotypes average productivity of grains was 11.4 t ha-1 in Pouso Redondo and 9.7 t ha-1 in Itajaí. The number of grains perpanicle was the yield component that better explained productivity differences between experimental sites. The larger mainstem leaf area, the higher flag leaf chlorophyll content and the lower disease incidence were morpho-physiological traitsthat contributed to the higher productivities in Pouso Redondo. The greater solar radiation availability, the lower values ofmaximum air temperature and the smaller air relative humidity content are environmental factors that probably contributedto the higher grain yield of paddy rice in Pouso Redondo. |

Os experimentos foram conduzidos em campo nos municípios de Itajaí e Pouso Redondo, SC, utlizando o sistema de cultvo pré-germinado. Em cada local foram testados cinco genótpos de arroz irrigado. Avaliaram-se os caracteres área foliar do colmo principal, incidência de doenças, teor de clorofla da folha bandeira, rendimento de grãos e seus componentes. A produtividade média dos cinco genótpos foi de 11,4t.ha-1 em Pouso Redondo e de 9,7t.ha-1 em Itajaí. O número de grãos por panícula foi o componente do rendimento que melhor explicou as diferenças de produtvidade registradas entre locais. A maior área foliar do colmo principal, o maior teor de clorofila da folha bandeira e a menor incidência de doenças foram característcas morfofsiológicas que contribuíram para a maior produtvidade. A maior disponibilidade de radiação, os menores valores da temperaturaatmosférica máxima e a menor umidade relatva do ar são característcas ambientais que provavelmente contribuem para o maior rendimento de grãos do arroz irrigado em Pouso Redondo.
