Resumo: This essay concerns climate change, what it is and how it adversely affects the enjoyment of human rights. It describes how the climate acts as a factor of human rights violations, the citizen’s initiatives to demand their more effective actions from their governments to tackle the issue as well as the answers that international community to protect human rights in the context of climate change. It follows discussing the migrations resulting from climate events and the existing legal instruments for the protection of human right in this context. It exposes how some population groups are more vulnerable to climate change impacts than others, despite having given a much smaller contribution to the problem. It discusses the relationship between climate change and conflict, and presents the contribution given by natural resources for peacebuilding and human rights protection. Finally, it presents conclusions and recommendations.

Descreve de que modo o clima age como fator de violação de direitos humanos, as iniciativas de cidadãos para demandar mais efetividade no combate ao problema e as respostas da comunidade internacional para proteger os direitos humanos diante da mudança climática. A seguir, trata das migrações provocadas pelos eventos climáticos e dos instrumentos jurídicos existentes para proteção dos direitos humanos nesse contexto. Expõe como alguns grupos populacionais estão mais expostos aos impactos da mudança do clima que outros, apesar de terem contribuído menos para o problema.
