Resumo: Intestinal parasitic infections are globally endemic and represent a serious public health problem, especially in developing countries. In Brazil, estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that approximately 50 million people are affected by E. histolytica. This parasitosis is an invasive intestinal pathogenic protozoan that causes amoebiasis that, in addition to parasitizing human beings. To carry out, in the literature, a survey on the process of discovery, identification of Entamoeba histolytica, and finally with the analysis of clinical exams to define quantification in the municipality of Redenção, Pará. An exploratory, descriptive and retrospective research was carried out, with data collection carried out in a quantitative way, from unidentified stool samples from the Municipal Laboratory of Redenção-PA, which showed symptoms of infection by Entamoeba histolytica. The samples were transported to the analysis laboratory of Faculdade Integrada Carajás (FIC) in collectors, inside a polystyrene box. A total of 465 stool samples from adult and child patients were provided. From there, we performed the analysis of these materials in order to quantify and identify the rate of parasites in the population of the city of Redenção-PA. Of the 465 samples collected, only 14 were identified with the protozoan Entamoeba histolytica in isolation. We can also observe that the result shows variation in the species of parasites and their different stages, which may appear alone or together. Despite the high rate of negative samples, the study suggests that we can find asymptomatic patients in the population, such patients often do not go to the health service for parasitological examinations, thus justifying the numbers obtained. In this sense, health education, in addition to being a low-cost strategy, is capable of achieving significant and lasting results in the control of intestinal parasites.

Sustenere Publishing2023-01-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/728710.6008/CBPC2236-9600.2022.003.0006Scire Salutis; Vol. 12 No. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 43-50Scire Salutis; Vol. 12 Núm. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 43-50Scire Salutis; v. 12 n. 3 (2022): Scire Salutis - Mai, Jun, Jul 2022; 43-502236-9600reponame:Scire Salutisinstname:Companhia Brasileira de Produção Científica (CBPC)instacron:ESSporenghttps://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/7287/4235https://sustenere.inf.br/index.php/sciresalutis/article/view/7287/4234Copyright (c) 2023 Scire Salutishttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCosta, Linda Catarina Gonçalves Lemes, Inês da Silva Melo, José Douglas Gama 2023-08-03T13:33:12Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/7287Revistahttps://sustenere.co/index.php/sciresalutisONGhttps://sustenere.co/index.php/sciresalutis/oai||carlos@arvore.org.br2236-96002236-9600opendoar:2023-08-03T13:33:12Scire Salutis - Companhia Brasileira de Produção Científica (CBPC)false
