Nurses' mental health and the impacts of Burnout Syndrome

Resumo: Burnout syndrome is a mental disorder with depressive characteristics, which is preceded by intense physical and mental strain in the work environment, taking into account these characteristics, it is highlighted that the work environment of nurses is extremely intense, especially as a result of the pandemic period, nurses have faced exhaustion and social isolation. The objective is to address the ways in which nursing professionals are subject to mental wear and tear, before the health service. This is an integrative literature review, the databases used are: NCBI/PubMed (National Center for BiotechnologyInformation), SciELO (Scientific Electronic Lirary Online), Academic Google and Lilacs - Bireme (Latin American Literature and the Caribbean in Health Sciences). To delimit the contents, inclusion criteria were used: articles available in full, in Portuguese, published from 2017 to 2021 with free access and dealing with the topic. Nine articles were discussed that demonstrate that during the pandemic, nursing professionals may have a mental health crisis and have the possibility of developing the burnout syndrome, because they experience stressful situations, including concerns, fears and insecurity in regarding their health and the health of people. Objetivo é abordar as formas em que os profissionais de enfermagem estão sujeitos ao desgaste mental, diante o serviço de saúde. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, as bases de dados utilizadas são: NCBI/PubMed (National Center for BiotechnologyInformation), SciELO (Scientific Eletronic Lirary Online), Google Acadêmico e Lilacs - Bireme (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde). Para delimitação dos conteúdos foram utilizados critérios de inclusão: artigos disponíveis na integra, em português, publicados no período de 2017 a 2021 com acesso gratuito e que tratem sobre o tema. Foram discutidos nove artigos que demonstram que durante a pandemia, os profissionais de enfermagem podem ter uma crise de saúde mental e tem a possibilidade de desenvolver a síndrome de burnout, isso porque vivenciam situações estressantes, incluindo preocupações, medos e insegurança em relação à sua saúde e à saúde das pessoas. Conclui-se que enfermeiro está sempre sob pressão no ambiente de trabalho, o que muitas vezes leva ao aparecimento da síndrome de burnout, que é uma doença em locais silenciosos, pode apresentar diversos sintomas, que afetam diretamente a qualidade de vida no ambiente de trabalho.
