Drug interactions in the abuse of anti-inflammatory drugs and their impact on the health of the elderly

Resumo: The pharmacist plays an important role in guiding the correct use of medicines, the elderly are extremely methodical users and they tend to follow advice from anyone, except health professionals, in this scenario the pharmacist is the main trained and available professional to make these users aware of the possibility of drug interaction. To analyze the occurrence of drug interactions with anti-inflammatory drugs in elderly patients, taking into account that the elderly naturally have a debilitation in their body, due to age. This is an integrative literature review, the databases used are: NCBI/PubMed (National Center for Biotechnology Information), SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Academic Google and Lilacs - Bireme (Latin American Literature and the Caribbean in Health Sciences). To delimit the contents, inclusion criteria were used: articles available in full, in Portuguese, published from 2014 to 2021 with free access and dealing with the topic. In the nine articles presented, the role of the pharmacist is related to the behavior of dispensing medication, and plays an important role in guiding people towards the correct use of medication. Elderly people use medications sometimes in higher doses than indicated because they need immediate pain relief, which is why pharmaceutical attention is necessary. It was concluded that the pharmacist is a professional trained to guide the elderly in the proper use of anti-inflammatory drugs, in order to prevent renal deterioration.

Analisar a ocorrência das interações medicamentosas com anti-inflamatórios em pacientes idosos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, as bases de dados utilizadas são: NCBI/PubMed (National Center for Biotechnology Information), SciELO (Scientific Eletronic Library Online), Google Acadêmico e Lilacs - Bireme (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde). Para delimitação dos conteúdos foram utilizados critérios de inclusão: artigos disponíveis na íntegra, em português, publicados no período de 2014 a 2021 com acesso gratuito e que tratem sobre o tema. Entre os nove artigos apresentados a atuação do farmacêutico está relacionada ao comportamento de dispensar os medicamentos, e desempenha um papel importante na orientação das pessoas para o uso correto dos medicamentos. Os idosos fazem utilização dos medicamentos por vezes em dosagens maiores do que a indicada pelo fato de necessitarem alívio imediato da dor, por isso a atenção farmacêutica é necessária.
