Passamos pelo embate de Lutero com os entusiastas até o contexto de Calvino em Genebra para destacar as influências do contexto no pensamento teológico dos respectivos reformadores. Por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica, apontamos especificamente para o relacionamento entre Espírito Santo e espírito humano. Destacam-se nesse sentido, escritos dos reformadores acerca do tema, bem como, a recepção posterior, por teólogos. Também a contribuição para a interpretação da realidade religiosa brasileira é trazida à luz em alguns aspectos do trabalho. O primeiro capítulo aborda o Espírito Santo enquanto um desafio, apontando para as implicações e problemas no relacionamento entre Espírito Santo e espírito humano. No segundo capítulo, está abordado o contexto de Lutero, ou seja, o embate com os entusiastas, especialmente com Andreas Bodenstein von Karlstadt e Thomas Müntzer, e o entendimento de Lutero acerca da ação do Espírito Santo no crente. O terceiro capítulo evidenciará a concepção de Calvino acerca do tema, onde apontaremos em alguns aspectos para semelhanças e divergências de Calvino com Lutero. Na parte final do trabalho faremos o movimento de retomar as teses centrais dos reformadores, bem como, nos perguntaremos pelo resultado desta pesquisa.In this work we approach the Holy Spirit in Luther’s and Calvin’s theology. We go through Luther’s shock with the enthusiasts until Calvin’s Geneva context to highlight the influences of the context in the theological thinking of the respectful reformers. Through a bibliographical research, we specifically point to the relation between the Hole Spirit and the human spirit. Therefore, writings of the reformers on the theme are highlighted, as well as the posterior reception by theologians. Contribution for the interpretation of the Brazilian religious reality is also brought to light in some aspects of the work. The first chapter addresses the Holy Spirit as a challenge, pointing to the implications and problems of the relationship between the Holy Spirit and the human spirit. On the second chapter, Luther’s context is addressed, that is, the shock with the enthusiasts, specially Andreas Bodenstein von Karlstadt and Thomas Müntzer, as well as Luther’s understanding of the action of the Holy Spirit in the believer. The third chapter will evidence Calvin’s conception on the theme, where we will point to some aspects of similarity and divergence of Calvin to Luther.
