Neste trabalho, compreendemos que o comprometimento com o processo democrático e com o exercício da cidadania concretiza-se na vivência de relações humanas cooperativas e solidárias, daí a luta pela transformação da sociedade. A gestão escolar democrática não é uma atividade apenas técnica. Ela está também voltada para os valores e à função social da educação, que facilita e impulsiona tanto a construção quanto a implantação do projeto político-pedagógico, que deverá assumir a pluralidade e diversidade como valor democrático. Além disso, compreendemos aqui que o processo de gestão não é função exclusiva do gestor escolar, e sim, da realização de um trabalho participativo, envolvendo todos os segmentos sociais que compõem a escola. Daí a necessidade da pesquisa, uma vez que o estudo proposto possibilita um aprofundamento da temática, apresentando ao leitor/a uma reflexão quanto ao papel do gestor escolar, no que se refere à teoria e prática, a sua importância e competência face aos desafios e mudanças na educação contemporânea.Observing the social problems as a whole, and with the concern about the paths that education is taking, we sought, through a reflective effort, to understand the importance of the school administration in a democratic perspective aimed at basic needs and the fulfillment of the individuals. In this paper, we comprehend that the commitment to the democratic practice and to exercising citizenship becomes concrete in the life experience of cooperative and solidary human relations, from whence the struggle for the transformation of society. The democratic school administration is not just a technical activity. It is also directed toward the values and the social role of education, which facilitates and instigates the construction and implantation of the political-pedagogical project which should assume plurality and diversity as a democratic value.
