Ao se constatar pela dificuldade apresentada pelos Suruí em matemática no Instituto Federal de Rondônia, na cidade de Cacoal, RO, propõe-se a utilização da etnomatemática como ferramenta pedagógica para o ensino da matemática para os Suruí. A autonomia indígena, com o fim da tutela no Brasil, possibilita aos indígenas a valorização da sua história e da sua realidade, tendo a sua educação como mote para este fim. Desta forma, através de estudo bibliográfico, após reflexão contextual dos indígenas no Brasil e dos Suruí, enfatizando a questão da educação indígena, reflete-se sobre o etnoconhecimento e, por conseguinte, sobre a etnomatemática na educação indígena Suruí, considerando os saberes indígenas.This Master´s thesis has as its theme the teaching of mathematics with the Suruí indigenous people. Upon observing the difficulty presented by the Suruí in mathematics at the Federal Institute of Rondônia, in the city of Cacoal, RO, there was a proposal to use ethno-mathematics as a pedagogical tool to teach mathematics to the Suruí. The indigenous autonomy, with the end of the guardianship of Brazil, makes it possible for the indigenous to value their history and their reality, having their education as the motto for this goal.
