Resumo: It is increasingly common the understanding of innovation as a determinant factor in organizational performance. However, several studies have shown that innovation indicators behave in different ways among different industry sectors. The article is the result of a quantitative study which has analyzed the existence of conduct innovation sectorial indicators in companies participating in the FINEP Innovation Award 2010. The theoretical considered research as Pavitt (1982), Nelson and Winter (1982), Malerba and Breschi (1997), Becker and Dietz (2004), and Montalvo and Giessen (2012). For research were used indicators such as efforts to R&D (volume of resources invested, qualification of researchers and the framework and partnerships with universities and research institutes), patent applications and the ability to export. The sample, non-probabilistic, was composed of 449 companies participating the prize, distributed in 42sectors of Brazilian industry. For statistical tests we used the chi-square test to identify some degree of dependence among categorical variables. The results show that only the patenting presents a sector behavior among Brazilian companies that participated in the FINEP Innovation Award 2010.
