Given the assumption that spirituality can be a sophisticated control strategy in organizations, the goal was to identify the meaning of the term 'spirituality in organizations "given by students of administration of a public institution of higher education, showing representations social underpinning to it or under it. New forms of control emerge as result of the modernization process and this is taking on new settings, away from the traditional form characterized by the direct oversight of supervisors and becomes increasingly sophisticated. It was made an exploratory and descriptive, and the universe consists of 132 students enrolled in the course of administration, using the criterion of accessibility. The collection technique used was the test of mandate of words and the inductive expression was 'spirituality in organizations'. The results showed that there is already an understanding of spirituality at work among the students because they were evoked words that relate closely to the theme.
