The relationship between faith and reason has been a central topic in philosophical and theological debates throughout the centuries. The quest to reconcile these two dimensions of human experience has challenged thinkers from various traditions and schools of thought. In this context, the contribution of Immanuel Kant stands out as one of the most influential and thought-provoking. His work Religion within the Boundaries of Mere Reason emerges as a focal point of analysis in this field. In this article, we explore Kant’s view on the relationship between faith and reason, with a particular emphasis on this work, in order to comprehend the unique perspective he offers in this debate. Kant’s significance lies in his attempt to reconcile faith and reason, surpassing simplistic dichotomies and promoting a nuanced and careful approach. The aim of this article is to provide a critical and interpretative analysis of Kant’s ideas on the relationship between faith and reason, drawing from Religion within the Boundaries of Mere Reason and engaging with other relevant works by the author. Furthermore, we examine contemporary interpretations by Kantian scholars to evaluate the continued relevance and impact of Kant’s reflections in this field.
