From mendel's peas to bioinformatics: What about ethical principles?

Resumo: The fusion of biological sciences with computer science has given rise to bioinformatics. Since it is an area that deals directly with life, where computers play a central role, the ethical issues become even more complex. In this sense, this study begins by drawing a parallel between the evolution of genetics and that of computers, and then an essay is proposed, inviting reflection on how responsible actions by professionals in the field can help them conduct their work on ethical bases.

Por se tratar de uma área que lida diretamente com a vida, onde os computadores exercem uma função central, as questões éticas se tornam ainda mais complexas.
