Resumo: | This article aims to contribute to discussions on research groups in the field of education and the methodological possibilities for researching them. Aspects about the relevance of the groups are presented based on specialized, international literature. A brief history of research groups in Brazil, the situation of research on these groups in the area of education, and the possibilities of investigation are also presented. Five areas of investigation are outlined, structured in three levels of approach: macro, meso and micro. It is argued in favor of the relevance of research on the subject, considering that, alongside the graduate disciplines, mentoring sessions and participation in scientific events, research groups are fundamental spaces for the acquisition of scientific habitus. |

A partir de la literatura internacional especializada, el texto presenta aspectos sobre la relevancia de los grupos y trae un breve histórico de los grupos de investigación en Brasil, la situación de la investigación sobre estos grupos en el área de educación y las posibilidades de investigación. Fueron delineadas cinco áreas de investigación, estructuradas en tres niveles de abordaje: macro, meso y micro. Se argumenta a favor de la relevancia de investigaciones sobre la temática, considerando que, al lado de las asignaturas de Posgrado, sesiones de orientación y la participación en eventos científicos, los grupos de investigación son espacios fundamentales para la adquisición del habitus científico.L’objectif de cet article est de contribuer aux discussions sur les groupes de recherche en éducation et les choix méthodologiques de recherche les concernant. Ancré sur la littérature internationale spécialisée, le travail présente tout d’abord différents aspects de la pertinence de ces groupes. Il dresse ensuite un bref historique des groupes de recherche en éducation au Brésil, avant d’examiner la situation de la recherche ainsi que les diverses possibilités de recherche à leur sujet. Cinq axes d’investigation, structurés en trois niveaux: macro, méso et micro ont été définis. L’article plaide en faveur de la pertinence d’une telle recherche, étant donné qu’à côté des disciplines de troisième cycle, des réunions d’orientation et de la participation à des évènements scientifiques sur le thème, ces groupes de recherche sont des espaces fondamentaux pour l’acquisition de l’habitus scientifique.Este artigo visa a contribuir para as discussões sobre grupos de pesquisa na área de educação e possi-bilidades metodológicas para a pesquisa sobre eles. A partir de literatura internacional especializada, o texto apresenta aspectos sobre a relevância dos grupos e um breve histórico dos grupos de pesquisa no Brasil, a situação da pesquisa sobre esses grupos da área de educação e as possibilidades de investigação. Foram delineadas cinco áreas de investigação, estruturadas em três níveis de abordagem: macro, meso e micro.
