Resumo: This article aims to reframe the concept of “Bioprotection” based on the daily practices of Protection for Victims and Witnesses in Brazil, in an ethical perspective of the dignity of the human person. We present a brief history of protection in Brazil, contextualizing our problem in the daily life of protection for threatened people. Subjects-in-Protection adopt tactics and strategies for the exercise of citizenship, which are understood as micro-resistances and micro-freedoms. The Protection Principle as a starting point for a protective ethics enables the apprehension of the dimensions of Human Dignity - political, ontological, legal, cultural, ethical, and biological - which make up the tripod of Bioprotection. The daily practice of protection, with its tactics and strategies, of the subject-in-protection for the exercise of citizenship, even in a regulated way, allows us to reflect on the context in which people live in a special condition of existence. In the context of PROVITA’s protective action, Bioprotection, a new concept within the scope of witness protection, is understood as a protection beyond the testimonial evidence, but to the life of the protégé in all its dimensions

Apresentamos um breve histórico da proteção no Brasil, contextualizando nosso problema no cotidiano da proteção a pessoas ameaçadas. Os Sujeitos-em-Proteção adotam táticas e estratégias para o exercício da cidadania, que são compreendidas como microrresistências e microliberdades. O Princípio da Proteção como ponto de partida para uma ética protetiva possibilita a apreensão das dimensões da Dignidade Humana – política, ontológica, jurídica, cultural, ética, e biológica – as quais compõe o tripé da Bioproteção. O fazer cotidiano da proteção, com suas táticas e estratégias, do sujeito-em-proteção para o exercício da cidadania, mesmo de forma regulada, permite-nos a refletir sobre o contexto em que vivem as pessoas em uma condição especial de existência.
