The text addresses the Special Courts as a revolution in the legal landscape, providing an alternative for resolving conflicts and expanding access to justice. Created by Law No. 9,099/95, these Civil Special Courts aim to promote speed, simplicity, and efficiency in the administration of justice, in light of the principle of expeditiousness, especially for less complex and lower-value disputes. The principle of expeditiousness is highlighted as fundamental in the Special Courts, but this study focuses on the performance of the 5th Special Civil Court of Vitória, revealing the challenges in achieving this principle. The text presents data on pending cases, judgments, and average processing times, pointing to a significant accumulation of actions and a delay that contradicts expectations of expeditiousness. The historical series shows an improvement in average pending times, indicating progress but emphasizing the need for investments in human, technological, and infrastructural resources to ensure efficiency in the Special Courts. Thus, the continuous importance of enhancing the system is highlighted, ensuring swift, effective, and accessible justice for all, especially given the growing demand for agile judicial services. The example of the 5th Special Civil Court of Vitória highlights the need for a nuanced approach on various fronts, considering various factors necessary to ensure the effective implementation of the principles proposed by Law No. 9.099/95
