The present study seeks to make reflections on the social, ideological, historical and political mechanisms that approach the social phenomenon of prostitution and sex. The aim here was to solve the following question: From the feminist and historical construction of female sexuality, how are female sexual rights understood by prostitutes through the exercise of harlotry? First, I outline the specific feminist debate about female sexuality and the sex industry, prostitution and pornography through the two main currents formed, the pro-sex and the puritan-social. Then, I consider the construction of the ideology of sex, prostitution and the development of feminism in Brazil through sociological, historical and political analysis, from the Proclamation of the Republic to the present day, briefly addressing the previous social context. Finally, the perspective of the prostitutes themselves on the exercise of their sexuality within prostitution is approached through the study of the books “Eu, Mulher da Vida” by Gabriela Leite (1992) and “O doce veneno do escorpião: o diário de uma garota de programa” by Bruna Surfistinha (2005), seeking to approximate the comments made with the feminist currents and also with the Brazilian historical and sociological context. The method used is the dialectic, as it seeks to study all aspects of the phenomenon, for dynamic interpretation of the social fact. The methodological procedure will be the bibliographic survey and the content analysis.
