Information behavior of multiplier transvestites: a reconstruction of citizenship through information

In Brazil, the transvestite identity was structured in conditions of abjection, fruit of the marginality and the hostility before the cisgender and heterosexual society. In light of this, this research intends to analyze the informational behavior of the multiplier transvestite of the association Pride, Freedom and Dignity in the processes of formation in gender and sexuality. From the methodological point of view, the qualitative approach was used in addition to the exploratory study. As an instrument for obtaining data, a semi-structured interview was used, guided by a specific script with three transvestite multipliers of the organization. The results showed heterogenization with respect to the information needs of the participants. The Internet appears as the most commonly used source of information for searching information. All participants find it difficult to access information on gender identity. The use of the information is effected from its sharing through lectures, workshops and publications on social networks. It is concluded that transvestite have restored, through the sharing of information, their narratives under the optics of constructing antagonistic scripts to which, historically, this population has been submitted.
