The insertion of the African and afro-brazilian themes in the teaching of Library Science: evaluation in faculty institution of Santa Catarina

Resumo: This research identifies the perceptions of professors of the Librarian Science Course of the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) regarding to the insertion of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture in the formation of the Librarian. As a general objective, it aims to understand the insertion of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture in the formation of the Librarian in the Librarian Science course of the Institution. As specific objectives, it aims to identify how the theme is represented in the speeches of professors of the course and in which disciplines of the curricular grid the same is worked. The conceptual basis presents the concepts on African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture and addresses the normative instruments that contemplate the theme. In addition, it deals with the teaching of Librarian Science in Brazil, as well as the teaching of Librarian Science at the UDESC. In the methods, regarding to the nature of this research, it is considered as applied. Regarding the objectives, it is considered exploratory and descriptive and, in relation to the problem, it is a qualitative research. Regarding the procedures, it is a bibliographical and documentary research. The universe of this research consists of collaborative and effective professors of the Librarian Science Department of the UDESC. The discourse analysis technique, called Collective Subject Discourse (DSC), was used. For the collection of speeches in this work, a semi-structured interview and a characterization questionnaire were used as instruments. As a final result, some relevant issues about the insertion of the theme in the Librarian Science Course of the UDESC are presented: the importance of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture in the Course, the curriculum of the course and the discipline on the subject, the formation of professors and the inclusion of the thematic in teaching practice, the unfamiliarity of Federal Law 10.639/2003, the emergence of other topics of discussion and the perceptions of the researcher. It reaffirms the importance of the inclusion of this issue not only in teaching librarianship, but also in practice as a professional librarian, citizen, mediator and acting subject in society. This professional must be able to meet all types of public, know and respect the history and culture of the people that are part of Brazilian society, as well as contribute to the promotion of equality, ethnic and racial diversity and reducing racism and prejudices.

Como objetivo geral visa compreender a inserção da História e Cultura Africana e Afro-brasileira na formação do Bibliotecário no curso de Biblioteconomia da Instituição. Como objetivos específicos busca identificar como a temática está representada nos discursos dos docentes do curso e em quais disciplinas da grade curricular a mesma é trabalhada. A fundamentação conceitual apresenta os conceitos sobre História e Cultura Africana e Afro-brasileira e aborda os instrumentos normativos que contemplam a temática. Além disso, trata do ensino de Biblioteconomia no Brasil, bem como, o ensino de Biblioteconomia da UDESC. Na metodologia, em relação à natureza desta pesquisa, esta é considerada como aplicada. Quanto aos objetivos, é considerada exploratória e descritiva e, com relação ao problema, esta é uma pesquisa qualitativa. No que concerne aos procedimentos, esta é uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. O universo desta pesquisa é composto por professores colaboradores e efetivos do Departamento de Biblioteconomia da UDESC. Utilizou-se a técnica de análise de discursos, denominada de Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo – DSC. Para a realização da coleta de discursos deste trabalho, foi usada como instrumento a entrevista semiestruturada e um questionário de caracterização. Como resultado final, apresenta-se alguns pontos relevantes sobre a inserção da temática no curso de Biblioteconomia da UDESC: a importância da História e Cultura Africana e Afro-brasileira no Curso, o currículo do curso e a disciplina sobre a temática, a formação dos docentes e a inclusão da temática na prática docente, o desconhecimento da Lei Federal nº 10.639/2003, o surgimento de outros temas de discussão e as percepções da pesquisadora. Reafirma-se a importância da inserção desta temática não só no ensino de Biblioteconomia, mas também na prática do bibliotecário enquanto profissional, cidadão, mediador e um sujeito atuante na sociedade.
