Hermeneutic Questions in Organizational Studies: two interpretative possibilities for research

Resumo: The present text has the objective of presenting theoretical considerations regarding two types of strategy of research: phenomenology and ethnography. Based on a hermeneutic approach, the two conceptual propositions are presented, the first being dealt with in the sociological context, and the second presented as an anthropological basis. Their similar uses in an organizational context - as well as their differences – are highligthed according to the theoretical contributions of authors belonging to the qualitative universe of organizational research. The text reveals, by the presentations of reported theoretical assumptions, the relevance of the interpretative perspective for the conduction of research that has the organization as object of study, in the pursuit of the identification of ways of constructing the social reality that is the result of the analysis of meanings and experiences lived by the participants, highlighting the importance of the bond between researcher and the research object The theoretical discussion regarding the two perspectives allows to observe the competence of the phenomenological and ethnographic research practice within the field of organizational studies, showing their methodological possibilities to identify dynamics that relate to the experience of life, favoring the analysis of the human being as a phenomenon of interpretation.Key words: Hermeneutic. Phenomenology. Ethnography. Este ensayo presenta consideraciones teóricas sobre dos tipos de estrategias de investigación: fenomenología y etnografía. Apoyados en la perspectiva hermenéutica, se presentan proposiciones conceptuales de las dos vertientes. La primera se estudia dentro del contexto sociológico y la segunda se presenta con bases antropológicas. Sus usos similares en el contexto organizacional – como también sus diferencias – se cuestionan según la contribución, la presentación de los presupuestos teóricos relatados, la adecuación de la propuesta interpretativa para conseguir investigaciones centradas en la organización como objeto de estudio, identificando formas de construcción de la realidad social resultante del análisis de significados y experiencias vividas por sus participantes, destacando la importancia de que investigador e investigado se involucren. El debate teórico respecto a las dos vertientes permitió reflejar la adecuación de la práctica de investigaciones fenomenológicas y etnográficas en el campo de los estudios organizacionales, manifestándose como posibilidades metodológicas para identificar dinámicas vinculadas a la experiencia de vida, favoreciendo el análisis del ser humano como fenómeno a interpretar.Palabras clave: Hermenéutica. Fenomenología. Etnografía. Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar considerações teóricas sobre dois tipos de estratégia de pesquisa: fenomenologia e etnografia. Com base na perspectiva hermenêutica, são apresentadas proposições conceituais das duas vertentes, sendo que a primeira é tratada no contexto sociológico e a segunda é apresentada em bases antropológicas. Seus usos similares no contexto organizacional – como também suas diferenças – são evidenciados de acordo com as contribuições teóricas de autores pertencentes ao universo qualitativo da pesquisa organizacional. Destaca-se, pela apresentação dos pressupostos teóricos relatados, a adequação da proposta interpretativa para consecução de pesquisas que tomam a organização como objeto de estudo, em busca da identificação das formas de construção da realidade social resultante da análise de significados e experiências vividas por seus participantes, ressaltando-se a importância do envolvimento entre pesquisador e pesquisado. A discussão teórica a respeito das duas vertentes permitiu notar a adequação da prática de pesquisas fenomenológicas e etnográficas no campo de estudos organizacionais, manifestando-se como possibilidades metodológicas para identificar dinâmicas que se atrelam à experiência de vida, favorecendo a análise do ser humano na condição de fenômeno de interpretação.Palavras-chave: Hermenêutica.
