Reflections on research in Physical Education: approaches to phenomenology and ethnography

Resumo: BACKGROUND: Thinking about the epistemological aspects that subsidize the different looks at Physical Education and how it establishes itself to base different researches within the theoretical field, is of fundamental relevance in postgraduate studies. Thus, the objective of this essay was to analyze and understand how the epistemological bases of phenomenology and ethnography have influenced research in Physical Education, especially in the affirmation of a new paradigm of science.DEVELOPMENT: For this, we used as a method a bibliographical review of articles, texts and books that discuss the different epistemological bases going through the origin and characteristics of positivist science to the new research paradigms. The results point to a social perspective of understanding the phenomena, seeking a new paradigm of science, post-abyssal and that considers alternative knowledge.CONCLUSION: It is concluded that phenomenology and ethnography are approaches that look at and are inserted from the point of view of culture and that the contributions to Physical Education point to a social look at the understanding of the phenomena possible to establish a new paradigm of science, post abyssal that consider alternative knowledge understanding our current society in its multiple dimensions.

Assim o objetivo do presente ensaio foi analisar e compreender como as bases epistemológicas da fenomenologia e etnografia tem influenciado nas pesquisas em Educação Física, especialmente na afirmação de um novo paradigma de ciência.DESENVOLVIMENTO: Para isso, utilizamos como método uma revisão bibliográfica em artigos, textos e livros que discutem as diferentes bases epistemológicas perpassando pela origem e características da ciência positivista até os novos paradigmas de pesquisa.
