Resumo: The Work Experience network is a possible option for young students as it provides them with the opportunity of improving their abilities/competences in order to face competition in the job market. Based on phenomenological research, the present paper shows the experience of young students abroad. The analysis resulted in the following propositions: a) away from his/her primary supporting references, a Brazilian youth builds up a supporting and solidarity network together with other Brazilians in a foreign country; b) socio-economic factors determine the way such situation abroad will be experienced; c) financial reward is not relevant as long as a temporary employment opportunity occurs within a context not linked to higher schooling and in a relaxed context; d) the experience of standing on ";;operational ground";; contributes to the development of leaders concerned with the human dimension of the organization; e) the opportunity of living in a different culture contributes to the development of interpersonal competences.Key-words: Life experience. Interpersonal competence.La red work experience aparece como una alternativa  para que jóvenes estudiantes desarrollen determinadas  habilidades/competencias con el objetivo de enfrentar  la  competición del mercado de trabajo.    Con base en  pesquisa fenomenológica, ese estudio relata la experiencia vivida por jóvenes estudiantes en el exterior. El  proceso de  análisis permitió formular las siguientes propuestas;  a) distante de las referencias primarias de apoyo, el joven brasileño, en conjunto con otros compatriotas en un  país extranjero, construye una  red de apoyo y solidariedad; b) la condición socioeconómica determina la manera por la cual  es vivida  la experiencia  en el exterior; c)  la recompensa financiera no es relevante, desde que,  en el contexto de  esparcimiento, se desarrolle un vínculo temporario de empleo, no relacionado con la  graduación superior, d) vivir la experiencia del  “piso de la operación” contribuye para la formación de un liderazgo volcado para la dimensión humana en la organización; e) la oportunidad de vivir en una cultura diferente contribuye para el desarrollo de las competencias interpersonales. Palabras clave: Experiencia de vida. Competencias interpersonales.A rede work experience surge como alternativa para que jovens estudantes desenvolvam determinadas habilidades/competências a fim de fazer face à competição do mercado de trabalho. Apoiado em pesquisa fenomenológica, este estudo desvela a experiência vivida por jovens estudantes no exterior. O processo de análise permitiu a formulação das seguintes proposições: a) distante das referências primárias de apoio, o jovem brasileiro, em conjunto com outros brasileiros em um país estrangeiro, constrói uma rede de apoio e solidariedade; b) a condição sócio-econômica determina a maneira pela qual a experiência no exterior é vivida; c) a recompensa financeira não é relevante, desde que, em contexto de diversão, se desenvolva um vínculo temporário de emprego, não-relacionado com a formação superior; d) viver a experiência do “chão da operação” contribui para a formação de uma liderança voltada para a dimensão humana na organização; e) a oportunidade de viver em cultura diferente contribui para o desenvolvimento de competências interpessoais.Palavras-chave: Experiência de vida.
