Resumo: | This paper is based on the assumption that the available bibliography on Japanese companies, despite being abundant, may not be sufficiently based on a historical viewpoint and, in result, is not well-grounded.From this standpoint, the Edo era, the stage prior to the Meiji era which is frequently mentioned by researchers, is focused with special attention. Our argument is that the Edo era, with its almost 270 years under the regime of national isolation from the outsideworld, might have been decisive in the formation of the thinking and behavior patterns of the Japanese people, that is discussed frequently in the business world today. |
