Resumo: In view of the serious problem posed by the low level of productivity as concerns the research activity, due to the absence of criterion and experience in identifying significant issues, the authors decided to elaborate a strategy, for conducting research in the field of social sciences.

O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar um roteiro para a decisão e a condução da pesquisa em ciências sociais. Procura contribuir para a prática de três tipos de pesquisadores: a) os que ainda não fizeram qualquer pesquisa; b) os que, tendo feito uma tese (em geral de mestrado), devem conduzir pela primeira vez pesquisa autônoma; c) os que possuem experiência, mas precisam de um texto para orientar novos pesquisadores sob sua responsabilidade.
