Resumo: This article investigates and establishes the relationship between organizational demands on the modern manager and the workaholic phenomenon, identifying some implications on the life of the individual. It analyzes the relations of mutual influences within contexts, organizational theories, demands on the manager and the workaholic phenomenon. The focus is on the manager, the person who occu- pies the command position, makes decisions and has a certain degree of accumu- lated responsibilities, in a relatively broad configuration of the domestic scene, since the qualitative research was made with eight business managers, from differ- ent segments and sectors spread over Brazil.

O artigo analisa as relações de influências mútuas entre contextos, teor- ias organizacionais, exigências sobre os gerentes e fenômeno workaholic.
