Intersectoriality, transdisciplinarity and collective health: updating an open debate

Resumo: This paper is a contribution to the debate on the relationships between transdisciplinarity and intersectoriality in collective health. Initially, the author discusses a few historical and epistemological aspects of contemporary science, pointing out that its organization founded on disciplines needs to be renewed by other forms of scientific praxis, based upon new formations that can overcome the specialization-fragmentation of knowledge. After criticizing a conventional framework for the definition of disciplinarity, the author presents his personal contribution towards a more rigorous treatment of these concepts, from a pragmatic perspective. Finally, the author proposes a preliminary model for understanding collective health as a field of knowledge and area of practices, articulating this conceptual discussion with an alternative proposition of intersectoriality as an effect of transdisciplinarity applied to the transformation of the reality of health.

Inicialmente, o autor discute alguns aspectos históricos e epistemológicos da ciência contemporâ-nea, indicando que sua organização fundada sobre a disciplinaridade precisa ser renovada por novas modalidades de práxis científica, com base em formações superadoras da especialização-fragmentação do conhecimento. A partir da crítica a um esquema convencional de definição da disciplinaridade, o autor apresenta, em seguida, uma contribuição pessoal visando a um tratamento mais rigoroso dessa série de conceitos, em uma perspectiva pragmática.
