Resumo: This teaching case reports the professional trajectory of an executive woman who is in the process of aging. The situation presented is based on a real fact and allows reflections and problematizations about topics that interest the field of People Management: (1) socio-demographic context and impacts on the workforce (2) gender diversity and (3) the issue of ageism. Despite Bertha having reached a managerial position, she faced barriers throughout her career due to the fact that she is a woman and deals with difficulties linked to the aging process within a large Brazilian organization.

A situação apresentada tem como base uma história real e possibilita reflexões e problematizações acerca de tópicos que interessam ao campo de Gestão de Pessoas: (1) envelhecimento da força de trabalho, (2) diversidade de gênero e (3) a questão do ageísmo. Não obstante Bertha tenha alcançado um cargo gerencial, ela enfrentou barreiras ao longo de sua carreira pelo fato de ser mulher e lida com dificuldades atreladas ao processo de envelhecimento dentro de uma grande organização brasileira. Após se dedicar por muitos anos para sua carreira, ela deseja sair da empresa e, gradativamente, parar de trabalhar.
