Knowledge Management in the City of São Paulo Park Management Network

ABSTRACT This study aims to assess the impacts of implementing public policy for structuring the management team of municipal parks in the city of São Paulo, under the Green and Environment Municipal Office (SVMA). This re-search assessed the academic and professional profile of these managers, identifying preferred topics and relevant players for disseminating knowledge, suggesting actions to improve it. Data were achieved from a survey using questionnaires that were applied to SVMA park managers in January 2011. The study identified the professional profile as primarily graduates in biological sciences (having studied more than four years). They have been working for more than three years at the SVMA, engaging their time primarily in managing outsourced teams and park management, with the favorite activities of managing the environment itself and the promotion of environmental education activities. Research identified a knowledge exchange network with seven communities, relatively centralized, with identifiable hierarchy identifying the agents with more needs and leadership supporting colleagues in skills relevant to the operation.
