Defending the decolonial option in administration/management

Resumo: In response to an enduring situation of asymmetry and injustice in the field of Management and Organization Studies (MOS), sustained by the radicalization of universalization of Euro-American knowledge, as well as the corresponding subalternation of diverse types of knowledge from the rest of the world, this article analyzes the marginal position and the potential of the decolonial perspective in Brazil. Analysis suggests the co-construction of a broad agenda in MOS in and from Brazil which fosters knowledge and practices informed by the decolonial option from a transcosmopolitan perspective. Taking into account multiple obstacles for the legitimation of alternatives to Eurocentrism and contemporary challenges faced by academics and practitioners within the context of radicalization of hypermodernity, this article highlights the potentialities of the decolonial option to interconnected communities of both victims and builders of alternatives on a global scale. Such decolonial agenda in MOS draws not on a re-articulation of essentialist revisionisms, but on the promotion of transcosmopolitan of advances in three interconnected realms: (a) academic – by fostering multiple political identities from a transmodern perspective; (ii) educational – by rescuing, co-constructing, and legitimizing, and disseminating knowledge connected to local realities and alternatives, and (iii) social – by co-constructing decolonial knowldege engaged with colonial-decolonial dynamics faced by society and academia on a global scale.

Sugerimos la co-construcción de una agenda en administración/ gestión en (y desde) Brasil que promueva conocimientos y prácticas difundidos por la opción decolonial desde una perspectiva transcosmopolita. Teniendo en cuenta los obstáculos históricos para la legitimación de alternativas al eurocentrismo y los desafíos actuales que enfrentan los investigadores y profesionales en el contexto de radicalización de la hipermodernidad, destacamos las capacidades de la decolonialidad para comunidades de víctimas y articuladores de alternativas interconectados globalmente. Esa agenda decolonial en administración/gestión no se basa en una especie de revisionismo esencialista-modernista, sino en la promoción de avances transcosmopolitas en tres ámbitos interconectados: (i) académico -por medio de la promoción de las identidades políticas en la investigación-enseñanza desde una perspectiva transmoderna; (ii) educacional -por medio del rescate, co-construcción, legitimación y difusión de conocimientos alineados con las realidades locales y alternativas; y (iii) social -por medio de la construcción conjunta de conocimientos decoloniales comprometidos con las dinámicas de colonialidad-decolonialidad que enfrentan la sociedad y la academia a escala global.Em resposta a um quadro duradouro de assimetria e injustiça no campo de administração/gestão, sustentado pela radicalização da universalização do conhecimento euro-estadunidense e correspondente subalternização de saberes do resto do mundo, analisamos a posição marginal e o potencial da perspectiva decolonial no Brasil. Sugerimos a co-construção de uma agenda em administração/gestão no (e a partir do) Brasil que promova conhecimentos e práticas informados pela opção decolonial sob uma perspectiva transcosmopolita. Considerando obstáculos históricos para legitimação de alternativas ao Eurocentrismo e desafios atuais enfrentados por acadêmicos e praticantes no contexto de radicalização da hipermodernidade, realçamos as potencialidades da decolonialidade para comunidades de vítimas e articuladores de alternativas interconectados globalmente.
