Perceived intention and perceived consequence used as criteria of moral judgment were measured under two orders of presentation (first order: intention-consequence; second order: consequence-intention) and three modes of presentation (verbal only; verbal plus implicit intention; and verbal plus explicit intention) following Hebble's paradigm. Four stories combining intention and consequence, both positive or negative, were judged through a 1 at 5 scale bad to good) by two groups of children, the first group (from with a mean age of four years and three months, the second seven years and three months. The results that followed from data analysis were: a) no main effects for order or mode of presentation; b) both groups included intention in their judgments; and c) in both groups, a recency effect was observed in their judgments. These results suggest that: mode of presentation influence only the judgments of children under four years of age; children around four years and three month judged as a function of intention; and children up to seven years were influenced by the position of the intention and the consequence in the stories.
