Objective: The purpose of this research is to develop prospective scenarios for the pharmaceutical sector, in the city of Franca/SP, in the period of five years (2020-2024), providing important information for the strategic planning of the sector. Methods: This is an exploratory and descriptive research, in several texts that approach the theme, to support the prospection of scenarios. The following were used: the Delphi Method for data collection; the Blaining and Reinig Prospecting Model; and the Cross-Impact Matrix to detect the sector's driving forces. Results: With the results obtained in the field research, three scenarios of future possibilities were built: an optimistic scenario, a realistic one and a pessimistic one. Relevance/originality: The construction of scenarios together with the cross-impact matrix are tools that will favor the company in preparing for the future, increasing the chances of survival of companies and interfering in decisions in certain situations to better position itself. Theoretical/methodological contributions: The proper use of the tool for prospecting future scenarios is of fundamental importance in this new phase of expansion of pharmaceutical retail, both in the strategic planning process and in decision making. Social contributions to management: Allow professionals in the pharmaceutical retail area to analyze their business environment and seek to envision several alternative future possibilities for their businesses.
