Academic researchers have contributed in the knowledge of future studies, and this knowledge has been improved through real application in companies and public institutions. Business executives and public administrators permanently have to face difficult decision processes, and therefore have to deal with decision context assessment and possible outcomes from the alternatives of decisions they have. Making a decision implies dealing with uncertainties, and cases when the decision focus is technology forecasting typically present uncertainties. The objective of this research is to study the application of bibliometric analysis on technological forecasting. This objective is based on the existence of two components that are available today, but not in the past: (1) internet based scientific databases and (2) new researches using bibliometric technique that explore the availability of these databases. The focus of this research is on heating, ventilation and air conditioning using geothermal heat pumps as the technology forecasting problem.
