Resumo: This study intended to trace the epidemiological profile of accidents caused by toxic plants in the State of Pará, Brazil. For this, it was made a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study of registered cases of plant poisoning, utilizing the database of the Toxicological Information Center (CIT), at João de Barros Barreto University Hospital in Belém-Pará, from the period of January 2007 to May 2018. The results reveal 14,952 reported cases of poisoning by various chemical agents and poisoning by poisonous animals, of which 143 (0.95%) by plants. The 0-9 age group, the female gender, the city of Belém, in individual circumstances and oral exposure were the most frequent variables. The vegetables that most caused poisoning were Jatropha gossypiifolia L., J. curcas L., Manihot esculenta Crantz and Dieffenbachia picta Schott, being as seeds and leaves (in the form of tea) as parts of the vegetable most used. In this study it was found that the majority of intoxications were of domestic origin, which calls attention to the need for guidance and prevention of parents and guardians in the handling of toxic plants.
