Resumo: | In view of the association between the use of phytomedicine as an alternative practice of social care, this study investigated the prevalence of prescription of phytomedicine by physicians in the public network in Macaé-RJ. It was found that the minority prescribes phytomedicine. Pediatricians were the most prescriber class and all of the gynecologists consulted prescribe soy isoflavone (Fabaceae Glycine max (L.) Merr.). The most prescribed phytomedicine were Passionflower (Passifloraceae Passiflora L.), Valerian (Caprifoliaceae Valeriana officinalis L.), Gingko biloba (Ginkgo biloba Engl.), Hedera helix (Araliaceae Hedera Helix L.) and Horse chestnut (Malvaceae Sterculia foetida L.). Among the available by the Municipal Health Department, the most prescribed were soy isoflavones (Fabaceae Glycine max (L.), mint (Lamiaceae Mentha spicata L.) and aloe (Asparagaceae Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.). The most indicated purposes of use were the treatment of airway and climacteric. The expected results were improvement of symptoms and reduction of side effects. Due to the low prescription and lack of knowledge about the free distribution by the SUS, it is shown that a better information routine is needed to the medical professionals in the Municipal Health Department, and strengthening of public health policies on integrative practices is demanded in Macaé. |

Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2023-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmlhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/140510.32712/2446-4775.2023.1405Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 No. 2 (2023); 260-273Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 Núm. 2 (2023); 260-273Revista Fitos; v. 17 n. 2 (2023); 260-2732446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1405/1352https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1405/1353Copyright (c) 2023 Revista Fitoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMartins, Andréia Luisa DuarteBarbosa, Juliana LourençoVieira, Rayana AlmeidaBastos Junior, Rossy MoreiraAlmeida, Taís Fontoura deCarneiro, Milena Batista2023-06-30T23:54:31Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/1405Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2023-06-30T23:54:31Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false |
