Resumo: The Piper species for many years have been investigated for their utility discovered by the natives of the regions where they occur naturally, and research from these species are intensifying by the need to find new active ingredients for controlling the progression of many diseases. The extracts were prepared by static maceration in ethanol, filtered and dried, obtaining the ethanol crude extracts of leaves of Piper arboreum Aubl. var. arboreum (EBEF1), Piper hemmendorffii C.DC (EBEF2) and Piper hispidum Sw (EBEF3). The objective of this study was to evaluate the analgesic, anti-inflammatory and phytochemical prospecting of crude ethanolic extracts of leaves from Piper species. Pharmacological studies showed decreased of hypernociceptive response to EBEF1 evidenced in two models, the formalin test and the test of increasing pressure on the paw, but in the latter, such a reduction was evident only when it was administered a booster dose of the extract. To evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity, we used the method of myeloperoxidase. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of EBEF1 to reduce neutrophil migration into the paw tissue. The analysis phytochemical that gives us a qualitative compounds such as phenols, tannins, anthocyanidins, anthocyanins, flavonoids, leucociantocianicinas, catechins, flavanones, and other xanthones. In EBF1, there was the appearance of yellow color indicating the presence of flavanones, flavonols and xanthones in the three species due to intensification of yellowish-brown color, indicating the presence of catechins, as well as the EBEF1 is more potent in its anti-inflammatory when compared to analgesic activity.
