Resumo: Continuous and constant scientific and technological advances concerning phytomedicines, has led to a natural evolution on the legal procedures for the registration of such products, by the health authorities. The present article reviews the evolution of registration procedures for phytomedicines in Brazil as well as brings a brief description on how some foreign countries deal with this matter.
