Resumo: | The aim of the present study was to describe the prevalence of the use of medicinal plants and phytotherapy in Brazil and the factors associated with their use. A cross-sectional study was realized based on the National Health Survey (PNS-2019) with a national approach. A total of 279,382 adults aged 15 and over were interviewed. The sample was probabilistic by conglomerates and self-representative capitals. The outcome was the use of medicinal plants and phytotherapy in Brazil. The independent variables were: macro-region, sex, age, income, self-reported skin color/race, and previous chronic disease. A prevalence of the use of medicinal plants and herbal medicines of 2.6% in the last 12 months was identified in the Brazilian population. It was found that the prevalence was higher in the northern region, among women, people aged 60 years or older, with higher incomes, and with the presence of chronic diseases. |

Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2023-09-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmltext/xmlhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/147710.32712/2446-4775.2023.1477Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 No. 3 (2023); 400-410Revista Fitos; Vol. 17 Núm. 3 (2023); 400-410Revista Fitos; v. 17 n. 3 (2023); 400-4102446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1477/1383https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1477/1384https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1477/1450Copyright (c) 2023 Revista Fitoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessCastilhos, Penélope FilippinBarbato, Paulo RobertoBoing, Alexandra Crispim2023-12-13T14:40:38Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/1477Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2023-12-13T14:40:38Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false |
