Resumo: | The research analyzed the process of socialization and transformation of nursing technicians into nurses through a descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, conducted with 24 nursing technicians enrolled in an undergraduate course at a university in the state of Ceará, Brazil. The study was conducted between September and October 2016, through individual semi-structured interviews, with a thematic analysis in order to organize the data, which were discussed according to the presuppositions of the sociology of professions. Based on the results, three categories emerged: motivations for career progression; the dissimilarities between the work of the nurse technician and the nurse; and professional growth in the course of their studies. We noticed a process of professional socialization in the educational path of a nurse technician, which was motivated by a desire for career progression. The gradual transition is important so the technician can adapt to a new identity in the making, which can facilitate the migration among individuals with different levels of complexity in the nursing practice. |

Se realizó entre setiembre y octubre del 2016, por intermedio de entrevistas semiestructuradas individuales, con un análisis temático para la organización de la información y discusiones de acuerdo con los postulados de la sociología de las profesiones. Con base en los resultados, se derivaron tres categorías: motivaciones para ascenso profesional; divergencias entre el trabajo del técnico de enfermería y el de enfermero; y maduración profesional en el proceso de formación. Se observó el proceso de socialización profesional durante la trayectoria de formación de un técnico en enfermero, motivado por el deseo de ascenso profesional. La transición gradual es importante para la adaptación del técnico de enfermería a la una nueva identidad en construcción, lo que puede facilitar la migración entre los individuos con distintos niveles de complejidad en la práctica de enfermería.A pesquisa analisou o processo de socialização e transformação de técnicos de enfermagem em enfermeiros por meio de um estudo do tipo exploratório descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa, com a participação de 24 técnicos de enfermagem cursando graduação em uma universidade do Ceará, Brasil. Foi realizada de setembro a outubro de 2016, por intermédio de entrevistas semiestruturadas individuais, com análise temática para organização das informações, discutidas segundo os pressupostos da sociologia das profissões. Com base nos resultados, originaram-se três categorias: motivações para ascensão profissional; dessemelhanças entre o trabalho do técnico de enfermagem e o do enfermeiro; e amadurecimento profissional no processo formativo. Percebeu-se o processo de socialização profissional na trajetória formativa de um técnico em enfermeiro, motivada pelo desejo de ascensão profissional.
