Resumo: This study has analyzed the perception of individuals with hearing disability regarding the attention they’re given at the health services. A questionnaire was applied to eighteen people with hearing disability in a community from São Paulo state countryside. The questionnaire had a set of closed questions with multiple answers and the application process counted with the presence of an interpreter. The difficulties of communication between patients and health professionals were stressed during the process, which led to difficulties in their access to the service and generated doubts in the patients. The absence of interpreters in the health service was emphasized. The presence of a companion was frequently reported and it was discussed its implications to the doctor-patient bond and to the deaf person’s privacy and autonomy. The participants showed their dissatisfaction regarding their medical care. This study stresses the need of investment in health professionals training on the use of the Brazilian Sign Language (Lingua Brasileira de Sinais – Libras) in order to amplify the social inclusion as provided for by the Law.

Un cuestionario de preguntas cerradas con alternativas múltiples fue aplicado a 18 personas con deficiencia auditiva originarias de una comunidad en un municipio del interior de São Paulo, con la presencia de un intérprete. Fueran resaltadas las dificultades de comunicación entre los usuarios y los profesionales de salud, ocasionando en dificultades en el acceso y generando duda en los pacientes. Se destacó la ausencia de intérpretes en los servicios. La presencia de acompañantes fue reportada frecuentemente y se debatió las implicaciones de esto para la conexión entre médico y paciente y la intimidad y la autonomía de las personas sordas. Los participantes indicaron insatisfacción acerca de la atención médica que recibieran. Se resalta la necesidad de inversión en la formación de los profesionales de los servicios de salud para el uso de la Lengua de Signos Brasileña (Linguagem Brasileira de Sinais – Libras), con vistas en la inclusión social como previsto en la legislación.Este estudo analisou a percepção de sujeitos com deficiência auditiva em relação ao seu atendimento nos serviços de saúde. Aplicou-se um questionário de perguntas fechadas com múltiplas alternativas a pessoas com deficiência auditiva de uma comunidade de um município do interior paulista, com a presença de intérprete. Barreiras na comunicação entre os usuários e os profissionais de saúde foram ressaltadas, levando a dificuldades no acesso e dúvidas por parte dos pacientes. A ausência de intérpretes nos serviços foi evidenciada. A presença do acompanhante foi relatada frequentemente, e discutiram-se as implicações desse fato para o vínculo entre médico e paciente e para a privacidade e autonomia dos sujeitos surdos. Os participantes indicaram insatisfação com relação ao seu atendimento.
