Resumo: | The article objective is to identify underlying organizational values through symbolic analysis in a wheat mill. The theoretical perspective of Thomas and Znaniecki, from the Chicago School, underlies the analysis along with Edgard Schein's theory of organizational culture. Therefore, values can be announced in symbols, whether they are concrete or abstract objects, such as the organization's architectural environment, layout, employee clothing, selective behavior patterns, among others. From a methodological point of view, a research is classified as a qualitative case study, in which the researcher aims to understand the phenomenon from the perspective of the respondents. Data collection involves interview techniques, non-participant observation and document analysis. The results showed that values of (i) hard work, honesty and savings; (ii) conservatism; (iii) social cohesion and (iv) humility stand out as criteria for guiding the behavior of owners in the organization. |

A perspectiva teórica de Thomas e Znaniecki, da Escola de Chicago, fundamenta a análise juntamente com a teoria de Edgard Schein sobre cultura organizacional. Portanto, valores podem ser anunciados nos símbolos, sejam eles objetos concretos ou abstratos, tais como o ambiente arquitetônico da organização, o layout, a vestimenta dos funcionários, os padrões de comportamento visíveis, entre outros. Do ponto de vista metodológico, a pesquisa classifica-se como um estudo de caso qualitativo, em que o pesquisador visa compreender o fenômeno sob o prisma das perspectivas dos pesquisados. A coleta de dados envolveu técnicas de entrevista, observação não participante e análise documental.
