Resumo: The academic life of a medical student is exhausting and stressful, mainly due to the integral nature of the course. Thus, it reflects directly on the mentalhealth of these students. Due to the high demands of the course, few are the students who manage to conciliate healthy practices to mental, social, andspiritual well-being outside the obligations of the academic routine. The aim of this review was to evidencethe profile of the mental health of medical students, as well as its correlation with spirituality practices. A high prevalence of mental disorders was observed among these students, being related to worsening academic performance and quality of life. Furthermore, it was possible to perceive that spirituality has a positive effect on the mental health of students, and that the reconsideration of its role in the mental health care of academics is necessary.

Assim, reflete de maneira direta na saúde mental desses estudantes. Dada a alta demanda do curso, poucos são os estudantes que conseguem conciliar práticas saudáveis ao bem-estar mental, social e espiritual fora de obrigações da rotina acadêmica. O objetivo desta revisão foi evidenciar o perfil da saúde mental dos estudantes de medicina, bem como sua correlação com as práticas de espiritualidade. Foi observada alta prevalência de transtornos mentais nesses estudantes, estando relacionada à piora no rendimento acadêmico e na qualidade de vida.
