Resumo: | As we continue the meticulous work carried out by Dr. Inez Barcellos de Andrade and her team, we would like to express our gratitude for the modifications made in RCFMC, which, through the implementation of new structural foundations, have established a standard of professionalism that has facilitated and made the work of the authors, reviewers, and editorial team more dynamic. Committed to this legacy and contributing to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, this volume of RCFMC, with a new layout of content and graphic design of the journal cover, presents nine articles: three original articles, among which one describes the profile of premature newborns in an inland population of northeastern Brazil, and two others, under the pharmacoepidemiological theme, where one quantitatively evaluates the dispensing of antidepressants in the primary health care service and identifies the characteristics of users in a municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro, while the other examines the profile of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and identifies possible pharmacological interactions for the most frequently prescribed medications; three review articles, one on multiple myeloma, one on the physiological and pharmacological mechanisms related to opioid dependence syndrome, which presents therapeutic alternatives and raises awareness in society about its abusive use, and another that discusses the controversial topic of the medicinal use of cannabinoids, the pharmaceutical forms, and their legal aspects; and finally, three case reports, one on systemic lupus erythematosus with severe hematological complications refractory to primary treatments, another addressing the surgical approach to deep endometriosis, and another describing a peculiar case of severe idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura secondary to cytomegalovirus infection. Driven by the recent transformations in RCFMC, we humbly accept the invitation to serve as Editor-in-Chief, extended by the Research Coordination and supported by the General Directorate of the Faculty of Medicine of Campos (FMC), with the responsibility of maintaining the established standard of excellence. We could not conclude this editorial without expressing our gratitude to all the people who have contributed to and wish for the success of the Journal. We thank the authors for sharing their research. We thank the reviewers for their academic rigor and meticulous corrections. We are also grateful to the Editorial Team, as well as to the readers, whose interest and support motivate us to continue promoting the advancement of knowledge. We wish you a good reading and reflection! Valmir Laurentino Silva Editor-in-Chief |

We wish you a good reading and reflection!
