Hábitos de higiene dos estudantes de medicina da Faculdade de Medicina de Campos após a pandemia de Influenza A (H1N1)

During the flu pandemic influenza A (H1N1) in the year 2009 was very discussed in the media about the basic measures necessary to reduce transmission of the disease. The condition for reducing cases is directly related to habits of the population. In addition to the H1N1, there are other diseases with the same form of transmission, such as tuberculosis and measles, which increases still further the importance of maintaining healthy hygiene habits. In this way, the objective was to evaluate the hygiene habits of medical students of the Medicine Faculty of Campos after the pandemic of influenza A (H1N1). Held-for such a descriptive study involving 180 students of 1 to 4 year of that institution. The principal variables analyzed were: sex, cleaning of hands in different situations, washing hands after use of restroom, washing food and as is carried out the cleaning of hands. It was found-that 3.3% of students using only water during the washing hands, 47% reported using only water on the preparation of food and 8.8% stated wash their hands between 1 and 3 times per day. From the data obtained may-if it finds that part of medical students do not carry out basic measures in the prevention of infectious or contagious disease. This demonstrates a concern, since, these future professionals need to be aware of the importance of washing hands, the main vehicle for the transport of bacteria and viruses for patients and to the physician.
