Characterization of primary health care professionals in a Pernambuco municipality during the COVID-19 pandemic

This study aimed to characterize the profile of health professionals in basic health units in Olinda-PE. This is a cross-sectional, observational, quantitative research. The voluntary participants were 33 health professionals from the Family Health Strategies teams in the city of Olinda-PE. Data were collected by the Google forms for the research participants, after they agreed to participate in the research and signed the Free and Informed Consent Term. Variables were expressed as absolute frequency. This project was analyzed and approved by the CEP-FMO. Most professionals were community health agents, technicians (nursing and pharmacy) and nurses. Of these professionals, 84.8% were female, aged between 31 and 50 years, and the level of education reflects professionals who were technicians or with higher education (university). There was a prevalence of 50% testing positive, of these 60% diagnosed by PCR and only 14.3% did not report absence from work. Although all interviewees reported using PPE, which had no effect on complete prevention. It is noticed that primary health care professionals were also susceptible to the coronavirus, despite not being on the front line teams in the fight against the pandemic. This also reflected in the removal of these professionals from their work activities.
