A REFLECTION ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT LABORATORY IN THE ACADEMIC-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN PSYCHOLOGY

Resumo: Introduction: Psychological assessment is an important and exclusive practice of the psychologist and constantly expanding. This is a field of professional practice that must be exercised through proper training. Given this reality, Psychology undergraduate courses should strive for practices in this area that enable future action by their academics efficiently. In this sense, the training of the psychologist must be a concern of the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Psychological Assessment laboratory is a teaching and research space that strengthens the theory by practice. Objective: The objective of this research was to report the importance of the Psychological Evaluation Laboratory functioning in the formation of the Psychology professional, in a Private Higher Education Institution of the Alto Paranaiba Region, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Methodology: This is a qualitative study of documentary nature plus a conceptual review of the literature. The documentary data were researched at the Psychological Evaluation Laboratory of the Department of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Psychology of Patos de Minas College; private non-profit institution. Data collection and analysis took place from October to December 2018 with visits to the referred laboratory. Considerations: It was observed in the researched literature the importance of higher education institutions in the practical training of competent psychologists for the performance in psychological assessment in their various fields. It is understood that the academic and continuing education is relevant and is linked to the ethical and technical problems that are present in the practice of psychological assessment in the Brazilian reality. Based on the documentary analysis, it can be stated that the HEI Psychological Assessment Laboratory to which the author is linked is a study space that greatly contributes to the psychologist's professional training practice, through which research is produced, favoring the improvement and valuing, increasingly, the professional of the area.

Trata-se de um campo de atuação do profissional que deve ser exercido mediante formação adequada. Diante dessa realidade, os cursos de graduação em Psicologia devem primar por práticas nessa área que possibilitem uma atuação futura de forma eficiente por seus acadêmicos. Nesse sentido, a formação do psicólogo deve ser uma preocupação das Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) e o laboratório de Avaliação Psicológica é um espaço de ensino e pesquisa que fortalece a teroria pela prática. Objetivo: A presente pesquisa objetivou relatar a importância do funcionamento do Laboratório de Avaliação Psicológica na formação do profissional da Psicologia, em uma Instituição de Ensino Superior, privada da Região do Alto Paranaiba, estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Metodologia: Trata-se de estudo qualitativo de natureza documental acrescida de revisão conceitual da literatura. Os dados documentais foram pesquisados no Laboratório de Avaliação Psicológica do Departamento de Graduação e Pós-graduação em Psicologia da Faculdade Patos de Minas; instituição privada sem fins lucrativos. A coleta e análise dos dados ocorreu no período de outubro a dezembro de 2018 com visitas ao referido laboratório. Considerações: Observou-se na literatura pesquisada a importância das instituições de ensino superior na formação prática de psicólogos competentes para o desempenho na avaliação psicológica nos seus diversos campos de atuação. Entende-se que a formação acadêmica e continuada é relevante e está atrelada aos problemas éticos e técnicos que se encontram presentes na prática da avaliação psicológica na realidade brasileira.
