Resumo: This text is an analysis of the argument about anamnesis in the Phaedo of Plato. We take into account that the argument is supported by the proof of the existence of the Forms and of the soul before birth, as well as of the participation of sense-perception (aisthesis) in this process. Given the existence of intelligible Forms, the soul is the regulator of cognitive experiences which guarantee recollection through: 1) contact with the Forms before birth; 2 ) contact with sensible reality, the basis for recollection.
