Resumo: Our purpose is to analyze the evolution of a certain form of discourse – negative or apophatic discourse as we may translate it. This form of discourse, which appears already in Parmenides’ Poem on Nature and Plato’s Parmenides, became one of the chosen forms of exposition in Middle- and Neo-Platonism's negative theology (doctrines about the First Principle which, by denying it the attributes of entities, show its transcendence).
